I just received an update from YouthNoise about one of their partners, Run to Vote, a campaign to encourage people to vote across the country.
This summer, a group of students and teachers from Granville Central High School in North Carolina took on the challenge of traveling throughout the 48 continental United States to register people to vote and inform them about election issues. For every person who registered or pledged to vote, a member of Run to Vote would run one lap, or a quarter-mile.
From an educators standpoint, I really like this tactic because it is multi-sensory. People are more likely to be engaged and are more likely to remember something when their senses are involved.
Additionally, Run to Vote sparks ideas of having colleges and high schools work together. High school students may not be able to vote, but they can participate in registration drives and have their opinions heard.
