Hit the Trail with Rock the Vote in 2008

Rock the Vote has spent years combating the news media and their coverage of the youth vote and the elections. This year we are going to tell the story ourselves. Rock the Vote and WireTap Magazine are hiring five young reporters to cover the election beat. Will you apply to be a Rock the Trail Reporter?

As a Rock the Trail reporter, you will cover what is really happening through November as well as the issues at stake. We want outspoken reporters who will interview candidates and campaign staff, but also talk to grassroots volunteers, young activists, and Rock the Vote artists spending their time organizing for change.

We'll give you the tools to find the real story on the campaign trail. Since the program is supported by AT&T, we'll be providing reporters with a monthly stipend and the latest technology including a laptop and a cellphone.

Reporters will be connected with Rock the Vote's 2008 program including our concerts, convention events, candidate forums, and local volunteer efforts. And if you write the stories, we'll get your work out there. All reporters will have their work published on rockthevote.com, wiretapmag.org, and BET.com, plus select stories will be posted on the Washington Post's site.

So, if you are an aspiring journalist or blogger between the ages of 18-29 and want the opportunity to hit the campaign trail with Rock the Vote, apply to Rock the Trail today: http://rockthevote.com/rockthetrail

If you know anyone who would make a rocking Rock the Trail reporter, please pass this on. And shoot us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have any questions about the program.
